B1: Advitha: As I know

In my "about blog" section I had mentioned about Advitha. It is one of main school of philosophy in Sanathan dharma a.k.a Hinduism. Also, all the four Mahaavaakyaas, one from each Veda, talk about core aspect of Advitha. Sri Adi Sankaracharya is credited for consolidating and spreading this philosophy. With such a mass following and rich history, it indeed has a vast literature. And honestly I have read none though I have a heard a lot about the Advitha philosophy from my father since my childhood days.  So here is what I know.

Ekam eva, a dvithiam. That is Advitham in one line :) Indeed this is the crux of Advitha which means There is just one, no second. Adding little more is the mantra that I recite trice a day. Asaa aadithyo bhrama, bhramaiva aham asmi meaning The sun is bhramam, the bhramam is me! The sun, which supports the earth and life, plays a big role in this philosophy. It is the pratyaksha devatha i.e. visible god, though the core philosophy says it is a medium thought which we perceive the Brahman. The significance of Sun is detailed in my next blog.

Some of the conclusion I draw from these two mantras are:
1) The underlying energy, that make the universe function as it does, is one, i.e. The Brahman.
2) Each entity in the universe, whether living or not, is connected to Brahman.
3) The easiest and best way to access this energy i.e. Brahman is from within ourselves.
